There are many commercial for-profit companies that offer home-delivered meal services for senior citizens and the disabled that will provide their wares to customers here in White Plains. We could not find a home-delivered meal service with a universally listed cost per meal.
These services offer varying pricing structures that depend on the meal type(s) and/or ordering plan chosen. Prices may be higher for: medically appropriate meals with specific dietary restrictions (e.g., diabetic, gluten-free, renal, etc.); religious preference (ex. – Halal or Kosher); specialized ingredients or elaborate preparation; and obviously larger portions equate to a higher cost. Meal kits that require some cooking may be less expensive than fully prepared meals. On the other hand, standing to cook prepped ingredients is not be possible for someone who is a “fall risk.” Subscription plans can reduce the per-meal cost compared to ordering individual meals à la carte. Some companies charge a distinct delivery fee; others include it in their meal price.
